The Long Beach Sharks recorded their first win of the season with a 4-0 shutout victory over the visiting Maine Nordiques. The Sharks were led by a great performance by Turner England in net recording a 37-save shutout victory. Sam O’Neil led the offense with 2 goals and Michal Stojka recorded 3 assists in his first game of the season. Special teams played a big part in securing the win with the power play going 2/6 and the penalty kill was 3/3.
Sunday Sharks vs Nordiques
The Long Beach Sharks fell to the Nordiques with a final score of 3-1. After a scoreless first period, the Sharks gave up a couple power play goals against and fell behind 2-0 going into the third period. The Sharks were able to score early in the third on a goal by Mason White and despite applying a lot of sustained pressure, they were unable to tie the game up missing several quality chances. The Nordiques secured the win with an empty net goal with under a minute to play. Turner England had another strong start in net for the Sharks.
The Sharks will now get back to an important week of practice to prepare to host New Hampshire Mountain Kings once again next Saturday at 6:30 and Sunday at 2:30 in Long Beach. We encourage all fans to come down support the team and watch some entertaining Junior hockey. Admission is free.
