The Long Beach Sharks took to the road over the weekend to take on the New Hampshire Mountain Kings where they earned a hard-fought split.
Friday the Sharks battled hard but fell behind early and despite battling back and creating some great offensive chances. They ultimately fell 5-1. Jay Montgomery scored his first career junior goal.
Saturday the Sharks came out flying right from the opening puck drop. Alec Dahlvang opened the scoring with his first career junior goal. Robert Johnson IV got on the board scoring the second goal of the game for the Sharks with an effort by the line of Johnson, Strahan, and Barbieri. JD DiTommaso scored on a beautiful setup assisted by Dahlvang and Stojka. The score was tied at the end of regulation which forced overtime. Neither team could break the tie in OT so they headed for a shootout. Sam O’Neil opened the scoring in the shootout with a beautiful move and Mason Jackson sealed the victory with another beautiful goal. Turner England had a standout performance in net. He stopped a penalty shot in the second period as well as made several key saves while being down 5-3 twice in the game. He also stopped both shooters he faced in the shootout.
Sharks are back on the ice with a midweek matinee in Middletown, NJ as they take on the New Jersey Titans on Wednesday, October 9th. Puck drop is at 1pm.
